Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 24, 2026
The short version: your focus data (sessions, garden, stats, tags, blocked apps) stays on your device. Sprout sends only anonymous usage events (which screen was opened, which button was tapped) so we can see where the app is confusing, and purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat. No accounts, no ads, no tracking across apps.
Data we collect
Anonymous usage events. Sprout records simple events such as “onboarding step 3 viewed”, “paywall viewed”, “plan selected” or “focus session completed (25 minutes)”, together with basic technical information (app version, iOS version, device model, language). Events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device, not to your name, e-mail, Apple ID or advertising identifier, and they are not used to build a profile of you. We use them only to understand where people get stuck and to improve Sprout. We never record what you type, your session tags, or which apps you block.
Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. To check whether you have Sprout Plus, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history from Apple. We do not receive your payment details.
Data stored on your device
Your focus-session history, garden, statistics, tags and settings are stored locally on your iPhone only. This data never leaves your device and is never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Notifications
Sprout can send local notifications, for example when a focus session finishes. These are scheduled entirely on your device. Notification permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.
Screen Time and app blocking
Sprout offers an optional feature to block distracting apps during a focus session, built on Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. This works in a privacy-preserving way designed by Apple: the apps you choose are represented by opaque tokens. Sprout cannot see which apps you selected and never receives a list of the apps installed on your device. Your selection is stored only on your device and is never transmitted.
Third-party services
PostHog (PostHog Inc., data stored in the EU, Frankfurt): anonymous usage events as described above. IP addresses are not stored with events. posthog.com/privacy
RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.): purchase validation. revenuecat.com/privacy
Sprout contains no advertising SDKs, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Children's privacy
Sprout does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous usage events described above contain no personal information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
